Quality Content
All year the SEO community has been stressing the importance of quality over quantity when it comes to content. This is crucial for SEO Rankings as we have talked about in other Perspective Posts, but is also quite beneficial for CTR (Click-Through Rate).
If you have quality, original content, you can take the time to format your content to provide readers with the information that will lead them to more areas of your website. Let’s say, for example, you sell cat socks. You want to format your content to include relevant and interesting information on other pages on your website. If someone is looking at pink cat socks, also mention that you sell other popular colors or kinds with details on that product. The easiest way to do this is to ask yourself, “What would make you click through to another page form this one?” And go from there.
Short URL’s
Whenever possible, utilize short URL’s. If the page you’re creating on your website has the title of “3 Craziest Argyle Cat Socks for 2017” then try to shorten your URL to something like www.example.com/argyle-cat-socks/ instead of www.example.com/3-craziest-argyle-cat-socks-for-2017 as it is best for not just search engines, but the readers themselves. Remember quality!
Schema
Insert schema into all relevant areas on your website that you can think of. Have you ever searched for an item and clicked on a result because it had those beautiful golden stars? Those review stars are inserted from schema. Make sure your markup is relevant and correct otherwise your schema might not show up.
Google AMP
Make sure your quality content posts are also created for AMP! To learn more about AMP, we wrote an entire Perspective article on it here.
When Google makes a change or update, we listen. When AMP was announced, we jumped on it. You should too. You can already see in results that the top results are usually AMP pages when you search for something from a mobile device. If you’re not AMP ready, you’re missing out on mobile viewers and customers.
